University of Alberta Libraries – Research and Study all in one place!

Looking for a Library?

UAlberta has 13 libraries across its five campuses that are available for student use (Yes, 13 libraries!).Here are just three of UAlberta's libraries- the ones I use the most. All UAlberta students can access any library and take out materials using their ONEcard. Whether you are looking for quiet reading, research for a paper, space for group projects, or studying for exams, UAlberta libraries can help you out!

Cameron Library

Cameron Library is known as the science and technology library. It has silent, quiet, and common floors, which makes it great for any purpose. Cameron Library has a study hall and “Knowledge Common” that is open 24 hours a day and has both iMac and PC computers, color printers, a laptop bar, and small group study rooms.

Rutherford Library

Rutherford Library is known as the humanities and social sciences library. It contains almost two million volumes, making it the largest library on the UAlberta campus and one of Canada’s largest research libraries! This library has two buildings – Rutherford North, which contains the majority of the collections (including a music collection!), and Rutherford South, which has special collections and a large reading room. This reading room is a very popular spot for many students and is known as “The Harry Potter Room” for its decor. (Check out a video tour of Rutherford Library!)

Law Library

The John A. Weir Memorial Law library is located in the law building. While its collections are law-based, the location of this library is what makes it notable. Law library is across the street from International House – one of the residences for international students. You can find study cubicles and large tables that serve as great study spots.
