Holiday Season in Edmonton

Many international students go home for the holiday season but some also decide to stay and experience the holiday season in their new home away from home. We have rounded up some of our favorite things to do during the holiday season in Edmonton and we hope next year to see you at some of them!

New Year’s Eve Concert

Every year at the downtown Edmonton McDougall Church people come together to listen to a concert of folk music with people from all over the city, and best of all the admission to the event is only a donation to the Edmonton food bank. This is a perfect event to enjoy after a nice meal in downtown Edmonton – your last meal before the New Year’s!

New Year’s Eve Downtown Countdown

Ring in the new years in the heart of the city! This is by far one of my favorite ways to celebrate the New Year’s as it seems like the whole city comes together outside City Hall to enjoy food concessions, live entertainment, horse and wagon rides, and finally fire works!

Christmas Reflections in Fort Edmonton Park

Fort Edmonton park is beautiful any time of year but during the holiday season the place has a certain charm to it that’s hard to explain. You’ll enjoy looking at the wonderful Christmas displays and twinkling lights while sipping on hot apple cider or hot chocolate in a horse drawn wagon.

Candy Cane Lane

Thousands of visitors visit Candy Cane Lane every year to see this special neighborhood filled with all kinds of holiday lights, displays, and unique decorations. Remember to dress warmly!
