Get active

If you like sports or fitness, UAlberta has a lot of fun, group-based activities that will help you meet others on campus. From drop-in fitness classes, to fun recreational sports to on-going clubs, there’s something for everyone!

Get creative

Does your ideal day include wandering through an art gallery, catching an exciting play or writing the next great novel? Getting involved in some of UAlberta’s artistic sectors will be sure to satisfy your inner creative! Journalism lovers can gain great experience in the newsrooms at the student-run newspapers: The Gateway and The Wanderer. Arts fans can lend a hand volunteering (or sometimes even doing paid work) for FAB gallery, the museums or the Timms Centre.

Get political

Interested in politics? Have an active say in UAlberta’s governance and gain fantastic experience that’s sure to impress any future employer by getting involved in Student’s Council or the various sectors of the Student’s Union.

Get philanthropic

Donating your time as a volunteer has many upsides. Aside from the great feeling of giving back to your University and community, it also provides you the opportunity to make new friends, learn about various sectors of UAlberta and gain valuable work experience. Check out the volunteer registry for a list of volunteering opportunities.

Plus don’t forget that you can help out and get paid! Lots of services on campus (and off) need great students all year round. Visit UAlberta’s Career Centre for help finding and applying for jobs or look through their online job postings.

Visit the Clubs fair or find a club from the online database.

Get social

There are many social events that take place throughout the year, that are fantastic opportunities to meet people and have fun. Some of these include movie nights, comedy shows, live concerts and more.

The Student’s Union puts on a lot of great events, so definitely keep your eye on their event listings.
