9 Cafes On or Near Campus

Most students love coffee or tea! So, whether you need to wake up before class or have a comforting hot tea while studying, there are plenty of options on or near UAlberta’s North campus.



Cookies By George

This little shop is a favourite of many students passing through HUB Mall on a regular basis. It’s coffee and teas are fairly cheap, delicious and they also make very tasty cookies!


Good Earth

This cozy cafe is located just South of the Timms Centre on 112 Street. It also boasts a great patio in the warmer months - perfect for having lunch at on a sunny day!



Just south of the UAlberta’s main campus, this trendy cafe not only serves great coffee, it specializes in Italian gelato and pizza!



This cafe is very popular because it stays open quite late and serves traditional Indian food! Many students frequent here for their homemade chai teas & incredibly comfortable armchairs.


Second Cup

Second Cup is a lot like Starbucks, but it’s Canadian! There are multiple locations on campus, including the Tory building and the CCIS building.


If you are a Starbucks fan, you’re in luck. There are multiple Starbucks locations on UAlberta’s North campus, including Cameron Library, ECHA and CCIS buildings. The location in CCIS is a great spot to take in some sun from the large windows on a sunny day!



Tim Hortons

It wouldn’t be a true Canadian experience if you didn’t try Tim Horton’s at least once! There are a couple locations on campus, but if you are in the mood for a hot beverage and some socializing, the location in CAB building is a good spot to go to!


The Daily Grind and The Undergrind

Both of these coffee shops are located in the Students Union Building (SUB) on North (Main) campus. The Daily Grind is located on the main floor, while the Undergrind is located in the lower level right next to the University bookstore and print shop!



Transcend is a newer and trendy cafe located a block away from UAlberta’s North campus. With great coffee and a bright interior, it’s a favourite study spot for many students.
