1) Bike Library and Workshop
Want to get around Edmonton fast and in an environmentally friendly way? You can rent a bike for up to 1 month or get free assistance fixing things on your own bike at the Bike Library and Workshop located in UAlberta’s South Academic Building.
2) The Community Garden
Whether you are an experienced gardener or looking to learn the how-tos of planting, UAlberta’s Community Garden is a good place to get involved! The garden is operational from May through September, just East of UAlberta’s main campus, and takes on multiple volunteers of all experience levels.
3) Reusable Dish Service
You can rent reusable dishes for free in the Students Union Building (SUB) during regular business hours. These plates are available for use at any vendor in the SUB food court and you even get a discount off your purchase from certain vendors! This services helps reduce waste on campus and even saves you some money.
4) On Campus Farmers Market
Want to buy some fresh food, but don’t want to carry a bunch of fruit and vegetables home from the various markets off-campus? You don’t have to! UAlberta’s Students Union hosts a bi-weekly market from September to April on the main floor of the Students’ Union Building (SUB).
5) Furry Friends Program
Love animals? Every month or so UAlberta brings in friendly trained dogs into specific areas on campus, as part of the “Unwind Your Mind” program, to brighten students day and help them de-stress during exam time. You can pet the lovable dogs or just spend some time around them.
6) French Bookstore/ Librairie Le Carrefour
In addition to the UAlberta Bookstore on the North Campus, UAlberta has an extensive French bookstore located on our French campus, Campus Saint-Jean. They carry French books, movies, gifts and much more!
